Custom configurations: Motor technology, winding voltage, rated power, gear ratio, output speed, shaft, mounting, brake, feedback and protection can be tailored to the OEM application. Where an established platform is unsuitable, SDT can support a clean-sheet solution from concept through validation and production supply.
Technical note: Ratings shown are representative family values. Final power, output speed, torque, ratio, voltage and operating duty are confirmed against the selected motor and gearbox configuration.

Final power, output speed, continuous and peak torque, ratio, voltage, shaft loading and operating duty are confirmed against the selected motor and gearbox configuration.
Compact coaxial transmission
Actual supplied product examples presented in the same comparison format as the S range. SDT combines planetary gearheads with PMDC, brushless DC and servo motors around the required output and duty.

| Configuration | Motor technology | Gearhead arrangement | Technical selection parameters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact PMDC | PMDC | Compact cylindrical coaxial | Voltage, ratio, output speed, torque and shaft interface |
| Integrated BLDC | Brushless DC | Integrated inline planetary | Ratio, control method, feedback, duty and thermal capacity |
| Servo Planetary | Servo / BLDC | Precision flange-mounted planetary | Backlash, ratio, inertia, flange and positioning duty |
| Flange PMDC | PMDC | Square-flange coaxial | Ratio, shaft loads, mounting, voltage and operating cycle |
Technical note: Planetary gearhead diameter, ratio, stages, output speed, continuous and peak torque, backlash, efficiency, maximum input speed, radial and axial loads, service life and thermal duty are confirmed against the application before a specific configuration is proposed.

Indicative 0.12–55 kW industrial AC gearmotor coverage, subject to gearbox, ratio and duty.

Inline helical, parallel-shaft, right-angle, worm and bevel arrangements selected around the equipment.

Foot, flange, solid-shaft and application-specific output interfaces coordinated with the installation.

Output torque, service factor, mounting, environment and certification confirmed for each project.
Selection basis: Motor power alone does not define gearbox capacity. Final continuous and peak output torque, ratio, thermal duty, external shaft loads and service life are confirmed for the selected motor-and-gearbox platform.
Select by mechanical arrangement
Compare the installation logic first, then confirm the ratio, loads, efficiency, thermal duty and service life. Hover, focus or tap each arrangement for its selection consequence.
Duty-led product guidance
Start with the supply, load cycle and output requirement, then open the comparison framework when detailed guidance is needed.
| Motor & gearbox approach | Typical supply | Best suited to | Primary benefits | Confirm during selection |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PMDC + spur / parallel-shaft / planetary | 12–48 V DC; higher-voltage windings available | Simple speed control, cyclic duty and strong starting torque | Compact, cost-effective and readily customised | Continuous and peak torque, current, brush life, ratio and thermal duty |
| BLDC + planetary / worm | DC supply with electronic controller | High-cycle, variable-speed and long-life operation | Efficiency, controllability and feedback integration | Controller, continuous and peak torque, backlash, ratio and temperature |
| AC / synchronous PM + helical / worm | AC supply; inverter control where required | Continuous industrial duty and higher-power equipment | Robust operation and broad power capability | Supply, frequency, service factor, efficiency, mounting and protection |
| Application-specific integrated unit | Matched to the equipment | Restricted envelope or specialised mechanical interface | Motor, gearbox and controls engineered as one system | Full load cycle, shaft forces, braking, feedback, environment and production volume |
Selection note: Final ratio and motor power are selected only after required output speed, continuous and peak torque, starts per hour, duty cycle, gearbox efficiency, service factor, radial and axial shaft loads, thermal conditions and required service life have been reviewed.
