Overview

Every application needs a unique motor for its purpose. SDT holds a complete and flexible traction motor portfolio that allows us to provide the required solution– regardless of vehicle type, power range or geographical location.

These motors are designed with high torque density, and cover the same applications and power ranges of the inverter line. They can be used for traction drives or auxiliary functions, and are available in standard ratings, or in custom configurations. Air and liquid cooled variants are offered, depending upon the size and required duty of the motor. This family also includes generators, which are an essential part of the auxiliary power unit (APU) in a series hybrid design.

Bespoke Design

If we cannot meet your requirement using our existing ranges, we are able to use our design expertise, experience and capabilities to develop a bespoke Motor & drive solution for your specific or unique application requirements.

Note: Actual outside diameter of our traction motors may be different based upon machine type and cooling method.

Options

  • Traction motors include both high speed motors and modular and frameless traction motors.
  • Direct-drive and hub outer rotor designs for medium and heavy-duty platforms and commercial vehicles applications which are designed to interface with standard rear differentials without the need for an intermediate gearbox.
  • SDT offers complete drivetrain sets for various vehicle types. The traction drive set includes: EV Transmission-Gearbox-Axle (Transverse Drives & Longitudinal Drives).

Inverters and Converters

These traction motors combined with a voltage matched inverter provide the speed and torque required to achieve required performance in a variety of vehicle platforms.

Traction experience put into use

SDT has extensive experience perfecting traction motors.
